Welcome to my first Caniac blog entry!  I am The Caniac.  I'll talk more about me later.

So we're 6 games into the season now, and our beloved Canes are 3-2-1.  In Thursday's overtime loss to the Maple Leafs, I thought Carolina was the better team on the ice, but a couple of big mistakes led the the loss.

The New NHL seems to be about players who can skate, and Carolina has definately got them.  I love the new NHL.  The game is far superior to what we've seen the last few years.  It's so much faster and more exciting.  Even the games we've lost, or games during which the team has been "flat", there's been more excitement than before.

How good are they?  Well... I expect no less than a playoff berth this year.  I think they're good enough to be - at the very least - one of the top 8 eams in the conference.
